Fall colours have changed the landscape along the Dempster into a Monet-like painting. The colours are seemingly impossible. We cross the continental divide again in Tombstone Territorial Park and set up camp in the campground for a few days of hiking. We’ve timed our arrival perfectly for the fall colours but all the backcountry permits are gone so we do day hikes in the valley. A few days later we are back in Dawson City where we clean and pack the bikes for the flight home. The Dempster threw just about everything it had at us. It might be a “highway” but its remoteness, unpredictable Arctic weather and lack of services make this a challenging ride. It’s the only road in Canada that runs north of the Arctic circle. #arcticcycling #gravelgrinder #cyclingthedempster #everydayisapresent #yukon #dempsterhwy
